Hybrid type: Black Jaguar
Hybrid Features: Kaoru is one of the lucky hybrids. The features that could give him away can be concealed with wardrobe or a story. His eyes are amber, a hue that changes depending on his mood. He usually wears sunglasses to hide them or explains them away as contacts. His nails are sharp and can rip through almost anything and grow exceedingly quickly no matter how many times he trims them. His skin is patterned in certain places with a pigmentation change that resemble the spots of a jaguar. They run along his spine and shoulder blades, up against his hipbones and across his collarbones. As he's covered himself in tattoos people now just write the spots off as another part of his collection.
What distinguishes him as a hybrid is his speed, agility and general feline manners. He can hear far better than any human, probably into the next building if he concentrated and his sense of smell and sight are those of a cat. He's perfectly comfortable in the dark as he can see just as well as in daylight and his instincts are usually dead on, often saving himself from an untimely death.
History:
Kaoru was born to an interracial couple so to speak. His father was a jaguar hybrid and his mother was human. He's probably got that to thank for his ability to keep his identity hidden.
He was born and grew up in one of the revolt headquarters, a nature reserve that specialized in taking in stray and abused hybrids. Koshi, then a member of the council was seen by many as a young prodigy, his peaceful ways appealing to most of the populace. He visited the HQ where Kaoru resided frequently and took the boy under his wing. They'd go for walks, talk about life and about how someday there would be a world without segregation. Kaoru idolized the brilliant youth.
When Kaoru was ten his father died in battle. Now reffered to as 'The Skirmishes', it was a long, bloody fight between the governemnt and the resistance.
At twelve he caught the eye of one of the resistence members. The man molested Kaoru for two years before he accidentally died in a 'freak explosion'. HQ Authorities wrote it off as the man leaving the gas on.
Determined to take care of his mother, Kaoru began to work for the revolt at an early age and continued to study under Koshi who was now much more than a friend. He was family to the young jaguar and though Kaoru won't admit it, his first crush.
At sixteen he started to work in earnest, going out on missions...a lot of them undercover because of his lack of markable features.
His job is dangerous to say the least and he's had his fair share of trouble and although his peers and friends sometimes worry he doesn't talk much about anything work related except what needs to be reported although he can go on passionately for hours about equal rights and the abuse suffered by 'his people'.
Two years ago his mother died and he stops by her grave once a week rain or shine, morning or night.
